Skeeter's Page

This is going to be short and maybe sweet?  1/2/2012, I was shocked to see the scale's numbers. 200 pounds.  For two and half years I did the usual, an up-tic in cardio and calorie restriction of no more than 1200 a day. In October of 2012, I started CrossFit, but stuck to my calorie restriction program, which was now 1200-1400 calories a day. I finally began to see some results.  I stuck with my plan, and by 5/1/2014, I weighed in at 184.  I felt pretty good about losing and keeping 16 pounds off.  With an impending wedding in October (my oldest daughter's wedding), I began researching ways to lose 10 pounds in four months.  I wanted the weight loss to be sustainable and safe.  I don't believe in quick fixes, cleanses, detox programs - never have, never will, especially knowing what I know now.  I sought advice from my daughters, who called me out on my calorie intake.  They talked me in to the unthinkable.  1800 calories a day.  SCARY, but it worked!  By 10/1/2014, I weighed 174 and was a happy woman!  Fast forward to today.  I average 2100 calories a day and weigh between 160-164, depending on the day.  I do CrossFit 4-6 times a week, a little 'bro lifting', and teach a Yoga class twice a week.  But, but.... I want more, or less, as it were.  I'm shooting for 150 pounds.  I'm not sure I can go too much less than that and retain my strength, as it applies to weightlifting. I will cross that bridge when I get there.  Short story? maybe.  Sweet story?  We'll see.  I think we, as women, get really bad information about how to be more fit and how to attain sustainable weight loss.  We're often afraid to try something foreign, because well, it's foreign.  Many of us don't like to sweat, or be sore.  Many of us are afraid to get bulky, which is total crap.  Lifting weights does not make us bulky.  Cupcakes, and too much beer, make us bulky.  My input will be, mostly, comprised of myth busting and encouraging you to pick up some weights, sweat and appreciate being sore. In addition, I will be sharing some tried and true options to nutrition options that drive weight loss.  I'm on FB with Deb - feel free to contact me with questions.  Like Deb, I'm not selling anything, so don't be scared ~  Skeeter
